My Go-To Spring Outfit

Now that the weather is finally starting to get a little bit warmer I decided to change up my wardrobe a bit and invest in a few new pieces that I will want to wear throughout Spring. When doing so I realised that some of my most worn outfits consisted of pairing a white top or shirt with either black skinny jeans or some blue ripped jeans. I wear this style pretty much all year round yet tweak it slightly depending on the weather.

A white top/shirt paired with a pair of black jeans is how I would describe my go-to style. Its so easy to throw together but you can dress it up or down for whatever occasion you like. Seeing as its Spring I have decided to pick up these gorgeous sandals from Miss Selfridge which I think go really well with this outfit.

I often wear an outfit like this to Sixth Form because its can be dressed in a really casual way. For daytime I would wear it with some black sandals or pumps but if want to dress up my outfit slightly, it is really easy to do so. I will most likely pair it with a statement necklace or some other gold coloured jewellery to match with the gold detailing on the shoes. If I want to go a bit more dressy then I will wear a pair of black heels and a slightly smarter white top paired with a clutch.

In the Autumn and Winter time I still wear similar outfits but I would throw on a coat and scarf and wear some ankle boots to keep me warmer. This is such a simple outfit but you can really dress it up or down for whatever occasion. Let me know what your go-to outfit is.

My Top 5 High End Beauty Products

When deciding what products to choose for this, I found it such a struggle to only pick 5! I have so many makeup products that I love, but somehow I have managed to narrow it down to my top 5. Hope you enjoy!

Anastasia Beverly Hills - DipBrow Pomade
If you have tried this product I'm pretty sure you will feel the same way as I do. I have tried quite a few different eyebrow products but nothing quite compares to this one! At first I found it really hard to apply but I soon realised that I was taking too much product onto my brush. You only need a little bit of this on an angled brush and it makes it so easy to get really defined and arched eyebrows. It lasts all day on me and the colour range is so good. I've had three different colours of DipBrow (blonde, taupe and ash brown) for when my hair was different colours and they were all equally as good quality. I'm currently using the shade 'taupe' because it is the colour which is most similar to my natural hair colour. I can't recommend this product enough, if you haven't tried it yet you really should, its amazing!

Nars - Sheer Glow Foundation
When I first tried this foundation I absolutely hated it. I think thats for two main reasons, one being that I had the completely wrong shade and the other that I was applying it with a brush. However, after repurchasing it in my actual shade (Mont Blanc) I have never been so in love with a foundation. I like to apply it with my damp beauty blender because I find it just gives it such a natural and flawless finish. The colour match is perfect for my skin tone and I haven't found any other foundations to be as much of a good colour match as this. I would say its a medium to full coverage foundation because you can build it up. I tend to apply one layer all over my skin and then apply more foundation to the areas I want more coverage (e.g. the redness on my cheeks) and then just use a concealer to brighten under my eyes. At £31 this foundation isn't cheap but it is 100% worth the money in my opinion, I love it sooooo much!!

Becca - Shimmering Skin Perfector (Pressed) - 'Moonstone'
When it comes to highlighter I have a few favourites that I love to switch up every now again, including Mac's mineralize skin finish in the shade 'soft and gentle' or the Nars illuminator in the shade 'copacabana'. Each of these have different finishes but are equally as pretty. However, if I could only choose one highlighter out of my whole collection it would have to 'Moonstone' from Becca. It just leaves my skin looking so glowy and gorgeous. It's also the perfect shade for my skin tone because it's not too gold toned but not too silvery either, it just sits somewhere in the middle. I had heard so much hype around these highlighters, specifically the shade 'Chanpagne Pop' designed in collaboration with Jaclyn Hill. Yet, I was worried that would appear too gold for my skin tone so I opted for 'Moonstone' instead after seeing Anna from ViviannaDoesMakeup saying how it was the perfect shade for her. I love this highlighter so much, if you like the highlighters I've previously mentioned or the Balm's 'Mary Loumanizer' then I'm pretty sure you will love this too!

Urban Decay - Naked Palette
Once you get past the horrible velvet packaging of this palette, the eyeshadows are just gorgeous. This palette contains my 'dream' eyeshadows, including the perfect warm toned matte browns for an everyday eye look to a gorgeous gold shade and champagne colour for all over the lid. If I could only keep one eyeshadow palette out of my whole collection it would 100% be this. I feel that the colours are so suited to my eye colour and they are just so wearable. This is definitely my all time favourite naked palette. If you have blue eyes and want to invest in a Naked palette, this would be the one I would reccommend!

Nars - Laguna Bronzer
When it comes to bronzers I always find it hard to find one that I really love. However, the first time I ever tried this bronzer I knew I was going to be obsessed with it for a while, and I still am! The quality of Nars powder products is so amazing, their bronzers and blushes are both so pigmented and have really good colour pay off. I find this bronzer so easy to blend and it looks so beautiful when you apply it. It is just the right colour to warm up your face whilst still giving off a natural sun kissed glow. It is my all time favourite bronzer and every time I run out I have to repurchase it, it is just so good!

If you haven't tried out these products I would whole heartedly recommend that you do. Although they may be pricey, they are so worth the money. Let me know in the comments what your top 5 high end beauty products are!

Whilst I was browsing the Superdrug website I came across this palette from Revolution and I realised that it looked very similar to the original naked palette. Once noticing that it was only £4 I decided to purchase it to see if it was any good compered to the Naked palette.

Revolution have created the palette to be a dupe for the Naked palette by selecting almost identical eyeshadow colours and positioned them in the same order as the Naked palette. I swatched the colours on my arm (see below). The top line is the Urban Decay eyeshadows and the bottom is the Revolution eyeshadows.

As you can see from the swatches, the colours are very similar between the palettes, so I was pretty impressed with that. However, I feel that unfortunately this was one of the only things that I actually thought was good about the palette.

When I was applying the revolution shadows I found them to appear very patchy. No matter how much product I applied the finish just didn't look as crisp as the Urban Decay eyeshadows. I also found that some of the shadows were not very pigmented. To try and deal with this I had to apply a lot more of the revolution shadows but this just resulted in a mess. There ended up being a lot of fall out and wasted product.

To try and keep the revolution shadows in place I used some mac fix+, but overall I still preferred the finish of the Urban Decay shadows. The revolution shadows also had larger chunks of glitter in them, whereas the Urban Decay shadows had more of a subtle shimmer to them which looked much more flattering on the eye. I found that when I tried to blend out the revolution shadows these chunks of glitter would spread to parts of my eye that I didn't want to be glittery, so again the Urban decay shadows were much better.

Although I wore a primer and fix+, the revolution shadows wore off very quickly throughout the day, whereas the Urban Decay shadows looked pretty much the same at the end of the day.

Overall, I would recommend that you buy the Naked palette over the Revolution palette. Although it's only £4, it's pretty obvious to me that you get what you pay for because the quality was so poor. If you have the patience and are willing to buy fix+ then you can make these shadows work. However, I love my Urban Decay palette and in my opinion this doesn't even compare to it. At £38.50, you most certainly get what you pay for. It would be much better to save up for a while to be able to buy a product that really is worth your money in my opinion!

Let me know what your thoughts are on these palettes. I would love to know if the revolution palette worked for you.

She puts a lot of effort into her posts so I know you will love them as much as I do!  (http://missshanlouise.blogspot.co.uk).

What is the Liebster Blogger Award?

If you don't know what the Liebster award is, it's basically an award that is given out by bloggers to other smaller bloggers. It's similar to a tag in that you get tagged to answer a series of questions and then you nominate others to do the same! I loved this idea because it helps you to find other bloggers who have blogs that are based around similar topics to yourself.

What are the 'rules' of this award?
  1. Thank and link the person who nominated you.
  2. State 11 random facts about yourself.
  3. Answer 11 questions chosen by your nominee.
  4. Nominate up to 10 other bloggers who have 1000 followers or less on their blog.
  5. Create 11 new questions for your nominees.

  11. Next year I should be going to university to study 'Mental Health Nursing' (lets hope I get the grades I need in my A-Levels)

11 Questions from Shan

What / Who inspired you to start blogging?
A few years ago I discovered some beauty gurus on youtube and ever since then I have become addicted to watching youtube videos and reading blog posts about the latest beauty products etc. I made a separate Instagram account (@littlebeautywonderland if you want to follow me, shameless self promotion haha) and started posting makeup related photos and got a good response so I started up a blog and yeah, here I am haha!

What is your holy grail skin care product?
If i'm completely honest with you, I am so bad when it comes to looking after my skin. I only use one product and that is the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pore & Shine Daily Srub I use this in the morning and at night once I've taken off my makeup and I find it really helps to keep my skin matte and just makes my skin feel really clean.

What are 3 of your future goals?
I have so many goals and things I want to achieve in my lifetime but the 3 that stick out to me are these. One is that I hope to become a qualified mental health nurse so that I can then specialise in area and make a real difference to people lives. I really want to work toward being a type of therapist so that I am able to support individuals who are in need of help. Another of my goals is to have my own family in the future. My third goal is a bit abstract but it is to simply be happy. I would hate to grow up to be stuck in a life where I feel trapped and miserable. I'm not necessarily fussed about the material possessions that I will have in the future, I just hope I will be living a happy and fulfilling life.

What is your favourite makeup brand?
This was such an easy question for me, but its most certainly got to be Nars. Every product I have tried from them has been so amazing. I would wholeheartedly recommend that you try something from Nars if you haven't yet!

What is currently in your makeup bag?
I'm currently trying out some new makeup bits so I have some different products in my bag to usual. I've got the L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer; the Revlon Color Stay Foundation; the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer; the Nars Soft Velvet Loose Powder; the Nars Translucent Light Reflecting Setting Powder; the Soap and Glory Solar Powder Bronzer; the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in the shade '10 - Nude mauve'; the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in the shade 'Pink Quartz'; the Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade in the shade 'taupe' and the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara.

What countries do you want to visit?
I have been lucky enough to visit America several times and have visited Florida, New York, Oregon and San Fransisco (i'm pretty sure we went other places but my memory isn't the best!) and I have some amazing memories from those holidays However, now I have visited America the only two other places that I would really like to visit are Bora Bora and Hawaii. They both look so beautiful and the photos of the scenery just looks gorgeous, I hope I get to visit one day!

What is your favourite social media for promoting your blog?
The only social media I currently use to promote my blog is Instagram. I find it so easy just to put up a post whenever I have uploaded a new blog post. This is a really effective way of reminding my followers to check out my blog.

What do you do in your spare time?
Aside from working on my own blog (which takes up quite a bit of time) I like to read other blogs, and watch my favourite youtubers. I'm more of a night in kinda girl, so I'd much rather have a night in watching a cute film with my friends rather than going out. Although, I do love a good night out every now and again! I love spending time with my friends but yeah i'm pretty sure you know what I mean!

What blogs do you read?
Some of my favourite blogs to read are as follows:
http://www.lilypebbles.co.uk
http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com
https://www.zoella.co.uk
http://www.fleurdeforce.com
http://sprinkleofglitter.blogspot.co.uk

How would your best friend describe you?
I wasn't sure what to put here so I asked Freya for some pointers and this was what she said. 'Ffy is one of the most thoughtful, caring and genuine people you could ever meet. She puts everyone before herself, in all situations and will support you in any decision you make. She never lets you down and you can rely on her for ANYTHING. She's my shoulder to cry on in difficult situations, yet the person I share my best memories with. Also, she's so so passionate in things that she believes in, and is one of the most determined people you could ever meet - she won't give up until she meets her goals. Ffy is so organised, and you can count on her to have ANYTHING - her handbag holds more than what most people would take on holiday in their suitcase. She is so beautiful and looks immaculate all the time, which is annoying because it makes you feel like a gremlin stood next to her. But I'm so lucky to have her as a best friend, and couldn't ask for anything more.'

HOW CUTE WAS THAT?!

What tips would you tell a new blogger or someone who wanted to start a blog?
I think the most important thing is to blog about a subject you're interested in. If you're talking about something you're genuinely passionate about then it will show through your writing. It's also important to be consistent in when you post, so that people know when to visit your blog to see a new post. If you can it's good to keep a record of what you're planning on blogging about. I like to use the notes app on my phone just to write down any ideas I may have.

Bloggers I Nominate:

Charlotte:

My 11 Questions For You:
  1. Why did you start a blog?
  2. If you could only leave the house wearing one makeup product, what would it be?
  3. What is your favourite makeup brand?
  4. How would you describe yourself in a few words?
  5. What do you want to do as a job?
  6. If you had to move to another country, where would it be and why?
  7. What are you favourite TV shows/films?
  8. What is your favourite clothing store?
  9. How would you describe your go-to outfit/style?
  10. What is your favourite product from lush?
  11. What are your 3 main goals for the future?

If you're still reading, thankyou so much! This was a very long post but hopefully you got to know me a little bit better. Make sure you check out everyone else's blogs that I've mentioned. They're all amazing and I know you will love them. Thank you again Shan!

Review: Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil - 'Bahama'

For a while now I have heard of the hype around the Nars matte lip pencils and now I've finally given in and purchased one of them. I went for a more neutral shade that I would be more likely to wear rather than a bold colour like a bright red.

I would describe the colour as a mix between a dark pink and brown. It's similar to Mac's Mehr lipstick, but less pinky and more on the brown side. The actual product lasts for a long time on the lips and I only find that I only need to touch it up maybe once or twice in a day, which I think is great.

Considering the fact that this product is matte, I expected it to be quite drying on the lips but this is most certainly not the case! It's such a comfortable product to wear all day long and it doesn't settle into any cracks on my lips which is ideal!

If you like the sound of these lip pencils you should definatley try one out. They are so worth the hype!

Review: Lush - Sex Bomb - RRP £3.50

Whenever I'm feeling anxious/stressed and just want to relax, a warm bubble bath is one of my favourite things to have. I have two favourite bath bombs, one is Lush's Twilight bath bomb (which I will most likely blog about at some point) and the other is Lush's Sex bomb.

This is one of my favourite bath bombs for a few different reasons. One of which is that it looks so pretty and cute. As you can see, it is a mix of both pink and purples (which are my two favourite colours) but it also has a little rose on the top. When you use this bath bomb, the rose opens up into the shape of a flower and floats on top of the water.

Another aspect I love is the really lovely scent of it. Personally I love scents that are very floral and calming, which is exactly how this bath bomb smells. I think that it's very similar to the scent of the Snow Fairy products which are released every year around Christmas time. So, if you like the smell of those I'm sure you'll like this bath bomb too!

This bath bomb leaves your bath looking a pretty pink colour and if you crumble a bit of a lush bubble bar under the tap you can create some cute bubbles in your bath too (that's what I did).

When you're next in lush I would recommend you give this bath bomb a smell and see if you like it. If you like how it smells, i'm sure you'll love it in the bath!
